Creating automatic, timed slide shows

SlideShowAuto displays a series of images automatically with a specified time interval between images (similar to an animated GIF).

The following rules apply to images used for the SlideShowAuto action:

  • They must be the same size in pixels.
  • They must be in the same folder as the starting image.
  • They can be either GIF or JPEG images, but you cannot mix GIF and JPEG images in the same slide show.
  • They must be named in sequence, starting with 01 and ending with the .gif or .jpg extension. For example, the starting GIF image would be named 01.gif, and the others would be named 02.gif, 03.gif, and so on.

  • You cannot have more than one SlideShowAuto action and SlideShow action on the same page.

    To apply the SlideShowAuto action:

1 Click the Layout tab to switch to Layout view.

2 Select the image you want to make the starting image for the slide show.

3 Click the More tab in the Image Inspector, and enter a unique name in the Name text box, such as Begin Show. This name does not have to be the same as the name of the file. For instance, although the file might be named 01.gif, you could enter any descriptive name in the Image Inspector.

4 Set up the action trigger as described in Setting up actions.

5 Choose Actions Plus > SlideShowAuto in the Action Inspector.

6 From the Base Image menu, choose the starting image you named in step 3 and which will be replaced with the rest of the images in the slide show.

7 For # of Images, enter the total number of images in the slide show.

8 For Interval (in Secs.), enter the number of seconds to wait between displaying images.

9 Select Stop at End of Slideshow to play the slide show a single time only. Otherwise, the slideshow will play continuously.
